about the CREATOr

The name of the project is based on Los Angeles musician MILCK's 2nd original single, "Quiet". The chorus sings, "I can't keep quiet, no no no/ A one woman riot." The song comes from a personal place, as she herself is  a survivor of abuse, anorexia, and depression.

Her previous 2 singles have been heard on FOX's Empire, Lucifer, and FX Sports, E!'s The Royals, and Freeform's Pretty Little Liars. She has also been invited to write for President Obama's White House Initiative for Asian American's anti-bullying campaign music compilation, and to  sing for the NBA Clippers and WNBA Sparks at the Staples Center.

About the project

The #ICANTKEEPQUIET project is dedicated to celebrating our unique voices and identities, in an effort to break the cycles of oppression and fear, perpetuated by today's media.

The first project was the #ICANTKEEPQUIET choir of D.C., which started the movement of guerilla style performances at The Women's March on Jan 21st, 2017.  The choir sang for unsuspecting strangers in the DC area with flash mob performances of an acapella version of "Quiet"

Simultaneously, #ICANTKEEPQUIET is launching projects on the virtual frontier. For example, we are collecting stories about everyday people who have braved extraordinary distances to speak up. Stories will be used as inspiration for future art projects to be shared later this year. We are currently searching through all #icantkeepquiet lists on twitter, instagram, and facebook, and accepting submissions. Read more about that here.

Lastly, 15% of the proceeds from the merchandise sold on this website will benefit the Los Angeles chapter of Step Up, an empowering nonprofit that provides after school and mentorship programs for underprivileged girls from ages 13-18.
